A feud erupted over McDonald’s and Wendy’s sponsorships and their paint schemes decorating the racing cars of two drivers, Bubba Wallace, and Noah Gragson (Courtesy of: Yahoo News).

The trouble started in the qualifier for the Daytona 500 when McDonald’s had their logo painted on Wallace’s number 23 race car. Wendy’s answered back with a much more intricate scheme adorning the vehicle of Gragson that Included an image of a large burger on the hood.

Wendy’s CMO, Carl Loredo posted on Twitter and insinuated that their competitor’s paint scheme was just as bland as McDonald’s food.

We’re proud of Noah Gragson’s No. 42 ‘ The BEEF’ car, and fans have been praising the paint scheme on social all week long,” he told Sports Business Journal. “We can’t say the same goes for our McBland competitors. At Wendy’s, we don’t cut corners.”

An answer came from, 23XI President Steve Lauletta:

Wendy’s has been a thorn in Ronald’s side for quite a while.

The “beef” with McDonald’s exhibited in commercials, billboards and especially on social media like Twitter. Wendy’s has taken aim and dissed the clown repeatedly, publicly.

And it seems to be mostly one-sided with Wendy’s doing the chiding and McDonald’s keeping pretty quiet.

Last spring, Wendy’s launched an ad campaign coming at McDonald’s French fries…”Hot and crispy don’t arch. Just saying'” with a picture attached of a malformed French fry mimicking the Golden arches.

The ad appeared on billboards at Wendy’s establishments nationwide in a public lambast of McDonald’s allegedly not-so-crispy fries.

So it’s not so surprising that the feud has made it’s way to the race track.

Less might be more because so far the Ronald McDonald sponsored race car had a leg up going into the next race Sunday, starting 15th with “Wendy’s” car starting at 22nd.
