In a sizzling development, Burger King has announced the three finalists in its highly anticipated Million Dollar Whopper contest. The competition invited burger enthusiasts across the nation to reimagine the iconic Whopper, with the winner set to receive a whopping $1 million prize and the honor of seeing their creation on Burger King menus nationwide.
The three finalists will have their Whopper creations available to order at select locations starting this November. Customers will also be able to vote for their favorite contestant to determine the winner of the $1 million prize.
Pat O’Toole, chief marketing officer for Burger King North America, said in a statement: “The Million Dollar Whopper Contest was all about taking ‘Have It Your Way’ to the next level, and we were blown away by the thought and creativity that went into the Whopper creations that were submitted.”
The Fantastic Final Three
“Selecting just three finalists was no easy task, but we’re confident guests will love these creative delicious takes on the iconic Whopper sandwich, and can’t wait for them to be available in restaurants this fall,” O’Toole continued.
After sifting through thousands of entries, Burger King has narrowed the field to three mouthwatering contenders:
- Fried Pickle Ranch Whopper (created by Fabian of California), which features quarter-pound flame -grilled beef patty, topped with pickle ranch, lettuce, fried pickles, bacon, and Swiss cheese on a toasted sesame seed bun.
- Maple Bourbon BBQ Whopper (created by Calvin of California), which features a beef patty, topped with maple bourbon barbecue sauce, crispy onions and jalapeños, maple bacon seasoning, bacon, and American cheese on a toasted sesame seed bun.
- Mexican Street Corn Whopper (created by Kelsie of Nebraska), which features a grilled beef patty, topped with street corn spread, lettuce, tomato, Southwest seasoned tortilla crisps, and Mexican spicy queso on a toasted sesame seed bun.
The contest, which launched earlier this year, asked participants to submit their Whopper creations through Burger King’s website and app. Entries were judged on creativity, taste appeal, and feasibility for nationwide rollout.
The three finalists will now enter a testing phase. Each burger will be available for a limited time at select Burger King locations across the country, allowing customers to taste and provide feedback on the potential new Whoppers.
The Road to Royalty
The final winner will be chosen based on a combination of customer feedback, sales performance, and input from a panel of culinary experts. Burger King has announced that the grand prize winner will be revealed in a primetime television special set to air next month.
The Million Dollar Whopper contest represents more than just a search for a new menu item. It’s a strategic move by Burger King to engage with its customer base and generate excitement around its brand.
For the finalists, the contest represents a life-changing opportunity. Not only is there a $1 million prize on the line, but the winner will also see their creation enjoyed by millions of Burger King customers across the country.
