The word on the street is that Chick-fil-A is giving a taste of what could be the next menu star sandwich with a limited-time test of the Pretzel Cheddar Club Sandwich. It’s debuting on April 8th, to select locations in Raleigh, NC to test the waters out.
Chick-Fil-A further illuminated that a nationwide roll-out of the new chicken sandwich would be contingent upon feedback from the testing locations in NC. So yes, there’s a very good chance this will be the next chicken sandwich to hit, maybe even in time for the summer season if we’re being optimistic.
Pretzel Cheddar Club Sandwich
The Pretzel Cheddar Club Sandwich features a juicy Chick-fil-A chicken breast, served on a toasted, cross-cut pretzel bun (think Wendy’s Pretzel bun burgers and chicken sandwiches). The pretzel bun is a combination of a soft and slightly chewy texture, to add an new dimension to what we know of the Chick-fil-A sandwich experience.
Nestled within the pretzel bun are layers of classic club sandwich fixings: crisp green leaf lettuce, a vibrant tomato slice, and melty seasoned cheddar cheese. Applewood smoked bacon adds a smoky and savory element, while a creamy Dijon mustard sauce on the side provides a tangy counterpoint to the richness of the sandwich.
Chick-Fil-A launched their first new chicken sandwich in a long while (over a decade), last August. The Honey Pimento Chicken Sandwich was a limited-edition hit. And like the Honey Pimento, the new Pretzel Cheddar is being tested in North Carolina which is a good sign that this thing will go the distance.
They often test new menu items in select markets before a wider rollout. And there’s no official end date for the test, but Chick-fil-A says supplies are limited. Hopefully this is good indication that we won’t have too long to wait.
Will it Fly Nationwide?
North Carolina residents will have the privilege of being the first to try the Pretzel Cheddar Club Sandwich, and local customer feedback during this test will determine whether this menu item takes flight across the country.
