Rapper and reality TV star Flavor Flav has taken his love for Red Lobster to the next level, securing an official partnership with the seafood chain after a public display of loyalty.
Last week, when news broke of Red Lobster filing for bankruptcy, Flav, a longtime devotee of their Cheddar Bay Biscuits (and seemingly everything else on the menu), took drastic measures. In a now-viral social media post, he declared his intention to “do anything and everything” to help the struggling restaurant. The evidence? A photo of Flav surrounded by two overflowing tables piled high with every menu item Red Lobster offered.
Flav’s dedication didn’t go unnoticed. Red Lobster, touched by this outpouring of support, quickly reached out. The result? A new partnership, just officially announced.
Red Lobster’s Chief Experience Officer, Sara Bittorf said:
“We love seeing our fans show up and rally for us. When Flavor Flav reached out, we knew we had to find a way to work together.”
And now we have a commercial starring the timekeeping (wearing) Flavor Flav promoting Red Lobster’s Crabfest. Drastic times call for drastic measures.
And if you think the commercial doesn’t open up with the ear shattering “yeahhhh, boiiiii” – you’d be wrong.
Flav continues: “Crabfest is here boyee and they got two flavors – just like me, Flavor Flav.”
And: “When the internet said Red Lobster was going away, boy Flavor Flav said not today!”
So, yes we are to believe Flav’s passion for the brand is undeniable.
It seems Red Lobster is going all-in on the unlikely duo of a hip-hop legend to their casual dining chain. Are they looking for a lifevest? Recipe for success? Or just a recipe that really doesn’t move the needle on anything?
