Starting October 23rd, KFC will be testing a new item…Original Recipe Chicken Tenders. The chain will be testing the tender waters in Cincinnati before a possible nationwide release.
To date, the chicken chain has never offered Chicken Tenders made with the famed Original Recipe seasoning which has been reserved strictly for their fried chicken options.
KFC’s Product Innovation Manager said:
“We’re now shifting some of our boneless items into the Original Recipe breading system and this (test) is our newest product. And, instead of putting them in a fryer, like we do our current tenders, we fry them under pressure, which helps deliver a juicier product, but with the crispy exterior still.”
Locations in Cincinnatti will feature the Original Recipe Chicken Tenders for $5 which includes a Biscuit, and dipping sauce. Locals can also order them in the $20 Fill Up Box with four Original Recipe Chicken Tenders, four pieces of fried chicken, four biscuits, Secret Recipe Fries, and four dipping sauces.
The chicken-centric chain has been dallying with Wraps over the past year, testing three options in Atlanta in 2022. Two wraps were released in February, and last week, another wrap…the Mac & Cheese Chicken Wrap was released nationwide alongside the Spicy Slaw Wrap, and the Classic Chicken Wrap.
Similar to the Original Recipe Chicken Tenders, in March, KFC debuted the Kentucky Fried Nuggets which are also boneless, and made with the Original Recipe blend of seasonings. It would shockingly be the first time that the chain has officially put nuggets on the menu.
With KFC leaning into the secret blend of herbs, and spices…CMO Nick Chavez noted that the: “Original Recipe is our superpower. That unique blend of 11 herbs and spices is something no one else can deliver.”
