A thirteen year old kid found himself in a most unusual circumstance upon his visit one night, to a Jimmy Johns for a sub sandwich.

In an incident that took place this past August but is just coming to light due to recently released surveillance footage, the scene happened at a Jimmy Johns located in Pompano Beach, FL.

Security footage shows the thirteen year old and another person being approached by a man and then the man engaging them in conversation.

After a minute or so, the suspect who we’ll call the ‘necklace yanker’ got it into his head to reach toward the kids neck in one startling move.

He tried to forcefully rip the gold chain necklace off the kids neck in an effort to snatch it, but it didn’t budge a whit…leaving the necklace yanker in a very awkward position.

Now, necklace-less and caught in the act, it was the would-be thieves turn to be startled.

The victim wasted no time telling the snatcher that he was going to call the cops. And on that note, the suspect turned and ran out of Jimmy John’s, jumping into a Nissan and high-tailing it out of the parking lot.

There are many dangling questions left to be answered – such as, did the suspect go into the Jimmy John’s with the express purpose of snatching someone’s necklace? What was it about the necklace that made it so snatch-able? Did the suspect like shiny objects to a compulsive degree and simply couldn’t help but try to take it?

Or maybe he was just a desperate thief on the look-out for anything worth thieving?

With so few questions and absolutely no answers, the only thing to be sure about was the strength of that chain.
