Understandably, cookies are the cat’s pajamas – a veritable staple in the world of sweets. And sometimes having a cookie can be all it takes to take someone’s mood from bad to good. However, to lay it all on the line for a cookie…is where the trouble begins.
The altercation took place last Thursday when a 24-year-old woman named, Amari Bente Hendricks made her way through the McDonald’s drive-thru.
Confusion set in when Amari informed the employee at the window that she was due a free cookie.
She seemed to think she was due a free cookie through a loophole or disclaimer that posits if a customer isn’t asked about the Rewards program while placing an order, a compensatory cookie would be called for.
A quick investigation finds one unable to find any information on this ‘free cookie hack’.
Suffice to say – Amari was fuming when she was refused her recompense. The police report states that she was ‘yelling and irate’, arguing with the manager.
The most befuddling part is that she was eventually given the free cookie and still kept making a scene. At which point, she brought a handgun into the mix, and the manager could hear her put a round in the chamber.
Reportedly the manager then ‘feared for her life’ and backed away from the window.
“[Another employee], who was standing in the area of the drive thru window, sees Hendricks point the firearm towards the drive thru window where he is standing, and said he was able to see down the barrel of the firearm,” police wrote. “[He] does not believe the firearm was pointed directly at anyone at this time, but in the area of where he was standing.”
The scene degenerated into chaos once Amari parked her car and tried to get through the front door of the establishment as an employee was trying to lock the door.
She ended up grabbing the employee and ‘forced him out of the business’, hitting him and scratching him.
When the police questioned Amari after the incident, she denied she had a gun and said that she and a worker engaged in a ‘tussle’ as she tried to enter McDonald’s.
The gun was found in her car on the floorboard.
“Hendricks said she does not know why the firearm was loaded with a magazine in it when we found it,” police said.
She faces multiple charges including, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
