McDonald’s Australia is taking the iconic McRib Sandwich, and putting a bit of a twist on it…and releasing it under the name of the McRib Deluxe. In addition to the Deluxe version, they will also be adding the standard McRib to the menu.
Australians haven’t seen any iteration of the McRib since 2020, so this is a long time coming.
What is the difference between the original McRib and the McRib Deluxe, you ask?
The McRib Deluxe features the usual suspects…pork rib patty, slivered onions, pickles, and tangy BBQ sauce on a toasted bun. It also adds American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and a creamy McChicken Sauce to the sandwich.
A fact we find interesting, is that there are two places where the McRib is permanently on the menu…Germany and Luxembourg. For all other countries, and locations the McRib makes a regular (or semi-regular) limited appearance.
In late October, the McRib was announced to be returning to United States locations after the previous year, and McRib run was promoted to be the Farewell Tour…meaning that it wouldn’t be coming back. So fans of the iconic sandwich were pleasantly surprised at the news of it’s return.
However, many weren’t able to actually find a location that actually had the McRib on the menu lending to some confusion, and it seems that it was re-released in very limited markets this time around.
The McRib is one of the most requested McDonald’s items by Australians, and it’s return will also bring onion rings, and the Chicken Big Mac along for the ride.
Will the US or any other countries get their shot at the McRib Deluxe? It likely hinges on how Australians respond to the remixed sandwich.
