Last month Logan Paul, and KSI faced heat from the FDA, and Senator Chuck Schumer in regard to their energy drink, Prime. This week, stores in NYC cleared their shelves of Prime in response to growing concerns for ‘childrens health’.

Concerns have been mounting over the high caffeine content in Prime, and the fact that Prime is heavily marketed towards children and teens. One can of Prime is equal to about six cans of Coca-Cola with about 200 MG of caffeine per 12 oz. can.

The CEO of the stores Gristamedes and D’Agostino, John Catsimatidis, said he made the decision to pull the energy drink before the FDA has come to a conclusion. He used the information from reports about the disquieting effects the energy drink has had on children and decided to be proactive on the situation.

We listen to our customers and we have fears about the concerns for the health of kids as it relates to Prime and the beverage’s caffeine levels and marketing, so will not be stocking it at this time. We could always reconsider, but we would put our own warning labels on the shelf.’

Approximately 28 stores in NYC within the two chains have taken Prime off the shelves.

Concerns over Prime’s toxicity to children have been mounting ever since Prime came out. A child from the UK suffered a cardiac arrest and had to have his stomach pumped just four days after Prime hit the shelves.

Schools in the UK have been reporting ill effects on children that consume Prime and report that adolescent consumers start to feel sick with racing heart after drinking it.

Chuck Schumer raised the alarm last month, calling for an investigation into the energy drink and the amount of caffeine it contains.

Schumer has concerns with the way Prime is marketed, what with the juice-mimicking bright colors:

Kids see it on their phone as they scroll, and then they actually have a need for it. And the problem here is that the product has so much caffeine in it that it puts Red Bull to shame.”

Logan Paul, and Prime issued a statement standing behind the drink, to confirm that it meets safety standards and that it’s not for anyone under the age of 18.

YouTube personality turned entrepreneur, boxer, and overall general ‘hocker’ came out with Prime in 2022 after partnering with KSI, another YouTube, Boxer, and rapper on the venture.

The energy drink has been a popular seller with lines out the door of people trying to buy Prime at the grocery store, to resell it and for themselves to consume.

There’s no update from the FDA yet on when they expect to publish their findings from an investigation into the energy drink.
