On February 1st – Pizza Hut will be reviving the long abandoned pizza, The Big New Yorker and rolling it back onto the menu.

Although it may be hard to believe, the discontinued favorite hasn’t seen the light of a Pizza Hut in almost 25 years.

Lindsay Morgan (Chief Marketing Officer for Pizza Hut) commented in a press release announcing the promotional pizza’s reintroduction:

The Big New Yorker was a huge hit when we launched it in 1999, setting the stage for future industry innovations like Pizza Hut Melts and Detroit-Style pizza.”

Since the end of it’s short run in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, fans have vocally clamored for the return of the pizza with the oversized foldable slices.

A dedicated following burgeoned for the axed pie with many customers demanding that the franchise bring back the pizza through petitions (like this one).

The petitions were vigorously signed to jumpstart a campaign (or a few) and get The Powers That Be to take notice.

But the calls went woefully unanswered.

However, whispers and subsequent speculation appeared on Reddit recently which alluded to the revival of The Big New Yorker sometime during the upcoming winter months.

A press release hit yesterday…confirming that rumor.

And the wait for fans is now over.

With “The Big New Yorker” hitting the ovens of the Pizza Hut franchise once again, the ones who remember – await The Big New Yorker’s return with bated breath.

But of course…this return comes with a catch. The pizza will be back, but only for a limited time.

The oversized 16″ pizza which was originally released back in 1999, gained traction as a popular favorite amongst patrons due to the colossal size of it’s “build”, and became known for it’s highly foldable pizza slices.

The folding powers of The Big New Yorker

A recent press release reads, “inspired by the spirit of New York with an XL pizza that is as big and bold as the city that never sleeps.”

The pizza is laid a the ground-work of sweet marinara sauce, parmigiana reggiano seasonings and an overload of mozzarella cheese.

While the pizza touts only six slices…The Big New Yorker is a hulk-ish 30% bigger than the size of a Large Pizza Hut pizza.

In anticipation of the new addition to the menu, employees on r/Pizza Hut shared a picture of a huge pizza “peel” tool that had been sent out to franchisees. The peel is exclusively made for use in the construction of The Big New Yorker since a standard size, just won’t do.

The pricing on the New York style pizza is set to start at $13.99 and comes topped with either a double whammy of pepperoni or one topping of your choice.

Whether you’re interested in trying the pie for the first time or you have been waiting in the wings for the past 24 years for a chance to enjoy the monstrous pie once again – now is your time to shine.
