At a McDonald’s in New Orleans, LA – customers ended up locked inside a freezer when a robber went inside the restaurant and forced them in at gun-point.
WDSU reports that it was just after 8:00pm and a relatively quiet night at the McDonald’s located on the 2800 block of South Claiborne Ave.
Everyone inside the fast food chain was going about their business, eating or working when a female entered the establishment.
She didn’t go inside to order, she went straight behind the counter instead and was armed with a gun.
A total of five people ranging from age 16 to 30 were forced to the freezer in the back and then locked inside. It’s not clear if everyone forced inside was a customer, worker or a mix of the two.
The female robber then made the present manager take her to the safe where she proceeded to load up on whatever was inside.
The report does not say how much cash she was able to make off with or if she fled by vehicle or on foot.
Several articles on the robbery couldn’t seem to decided if the robber was a male or female but further investigation shows that it was a female responsible for the crime.
Rafael Goyeneche, president of the Metropolitan Crime Commission is thankful that the incident ended peaceably.
“This could have easily been much worse,” He said.
There is also a lack of a physical description of the suspect from witnesses and responding officers with no mention on if she wore a mask or not.
Perhaps surveillance footage will help to unravel the tale behind the robbery at this New Orleans based McDonald’s.
