An argument over the wait for food in the drive-thru at a Wendy’s location in Wichita, Kansas – led to a shooting that ended with one person being killed.
Around 11:30pm, police were called to the scene at Wendy’s when a man named, Pleasure Coleman was injured in a shooting.
According to Kansas.com – an argument ensued in the drive-thru when 35 year old Coleman got worked up over the food or the wait to get his food.
Spokesperson for the police department, Chad Ditch stated that people in the line behind Coleman were getting upset with his behavior.
At this point, Coleman got into it with a man in the car directly behind him for reasons unknown.
Coleman was prompted by an as yet determined (or not reported) catalyst…to get out of his car and start shooting.
The other man got out of his car in response, also happening to have a gun and returned fire.
“5-7 shots were fired” as both men engaged with one another and Coleman was struck in the upper body.
When paramedics arrived they attempted to resuscitate Coleman but he died before he could be transported to a hospital.
The details are brief at this stage, with an uncertain motive behind why Pleasure Coleman was so upset in the drive-thru of Wendy’s.
Ditch noted that it seemed to be related to the wait for his food.
The individual that shot back at Coleman was interviewed by officers and ended up being released, insinuating that the man who shot Coleman was doing so defensively.
Chad Ditch said that it would be up to the district attorney on whether to prosecute the 32 year old in the shooting.
How an argument over the wait for food at a Wendy’s could possibly lead to the drawing of guns and the loss of one life, is a question that may never be answered.
