Taco Bell is bringing a another chip into the fold similarly to what they did with their historical partnership with Frito Lays’ Doritos, and Cheetos. The chain will be adding the Takis tortilla chip into the mix for an entirely new spin on the Burrito.

The chain will be releasing and testing the Takis Burrito in Costa Rican locations according to The Snackolator, an Instagram account privy to upcoming food news, and drops. The caption on their post reads:

Taco Bell just dropped a new TAKIS BURRITO in Costa Rica and I have to say this one sounds like a must-bring to the states kind of item.

Takis, Takis, Takis

The Takis Burrito looks to be a burrito tucked with beef, dots of sour cream, and Takis scattered throughout. It also comes with a side of Salsa De Queso for dipping.

There’s even a petition on Change.org (with almost 200 signatures) that someone made in 2019 suggesting that Taco Bell incorporate Takis into their menu in some form. It looks like they got their wish…

The Snackolator continued:

It’s basically a burrito with sour cream and actual Takis inside which is pretty simple but I’d think that crunch and spice would make for a really nice snack.

Takis are rolled tortilla chips made by the brand Barcel. They’re available in different varieties like; Fuego, Blue Heat, Intense Nacho, and Guacamole.

Then there’s the popular Doritos Locos Taco which has been a Taco Bell staple since its inception in 2012. It’s pivotal shell is orange, and made to taste like one big Nacho Cheese Dorito…the first of it’s kind. Different varieties have come out over the years including a Cool Ranch Shell, and a Flamin’ Hot Cool Ranch version.

Will the Takis Burrito usurp the Doritos Locos Taco as the number one chip-oriented offering at Taco Bell? And when will the chain bring this to the United States?
