Murder outside McDonald’s

South L.A

Tragedy struck outside of a South Los Angeles McDonalds when an elderly man confined to a wheelchair was shot and killed. Witnesses say that they saw the man hanging around outside of the store and that he appeared to be asleep. What happened next was murky and unclear according to witnesses, however investigators have implicated two suspects. A McDouble helping of justice was dealt out to Rubi Anguiano Salazar, and Raymundo Hernandez, as both are charged with murder.

At this point the motive is not clear, however what is certain is that this crime is particularly brutal and heinous. The elderly man, Gerold Lipeles, who was 69 years old, was a double amputee and was homeless. The spot that he was sleeping at outside of McDonalds was the spot that he typically chose to sleep in and it is not clear what could have caused this situation to happen.

Lipeles fought valiantly in the hospital for five days before he succumbs to his injuries. This incident draws attention to the fact that there are many homeless handicapped individuals who are not given the resources they need to feel safe. No matter what, an elderly amputee should never be put in a situation where they could be harmed.
