A war is brewing between McDonald’s, the Company “Rockton Taylor” and a third company, “Kytch”.

Basically, McDonald’s had attempted to get the lawsuit dismissed but a California judge rejected the request and it was recently confirmed that the show will be going on.

The staggering $900 million lawsuit was filed by Kytch in March 2022. The company claimed that both Rockton Taylor and McDonald’s were stealing information and secretly developing devices based off of their own technology.

With the different companies being bandied about and accusations flying from all sides – it gets a little confusing as to exactly who’s who in this battle.

It’s a real doozy but let’s break it down.

Rockton Taylor is a company that makes the famed ice cream machines that McDonald’s uses; the ones that are always on their last leg and never seem to function.

Kytch is another separate company that services the machines and is/was working on a fix for McDonald’s problem with the broken machines. They had developed a device or tool, and an accompanying software program that would enable a user to service the machines remotely.

McDonald’s is Ronald McDonald. Everyone knows the clown. But what we don’t know is, their part in all of this.

Back in March 2022, Kytch filed a lawsuit and a restraining order against Rockton for spreading ‘false advertising and unfair competition.

While at the same time – Kytch was also compiling evidence against McDonald’s…for a new lawsuit alleging that McDonald’s and Rockton worked together to sabotage them by maligning their name to customers, warning that there were safety and confidentiality issues with Kytch’s devices.

To back it up a tad, early on in the whole affair – McDonald’s allegedly sent a blast email out to franchisees warning them to disable Kytch’s devices from the ice cream machines.

They wrote that the devices were stealing top secret info and that they were dangerous, capable of causing personal injury.

The lawsuit confirms that Kytch had been testing a new device at various McDonald’s locations. Kytch claims that Taylor and McDonald’s were the ones stealing the technology to develop their own version in secret.

Both sides were claiming that the other party was guilty of some form of subterfuge wherein secret information was at risk or being stolen.

With McDonald’s and Taylor on one side, and Kytch on an island all of their own.

McDonald’s was in the process of trying to get the lawsuit against them dropped by requesting a dismissal of the case but the judge recently rejected McDonald’s motion.

And so the $900 million lawsuit will be moving forward.

What new information will come to light in this raggle-taggle affair is anyone’s guess.

Kytch said in a statement: “Ultimately, the court’s most recent decision means we now have the opportunity to pursue justice against Taylor’s false smears and their anti-competitive behavior.”

Who knew such theatrics were involved in broken ice cream machines and the need to service them with secret devices?

The court proceedings coming down the pipeline should be interesting but it’s important to note that in the middle of everything – McDonald’s ice cream machines are still rattle-traps with no solution in sight to fix the issues that continue to plague them.
