Sonic is launching a burger that combines two sandwich ingredient classics, peanut butter and bacon. It’s called the SuperSONIC Double Cheeseburger, and that’s not all…the chain is bringing along a Peanut Butter Bacon Shake for the ride.
Starting January 8th, the SuperSonic Double Cheeseburger, and the Peanut Butter Bacon Shake will be landing on menus nationwide, for a limited time.
In a news release, Sonic said:
“These flavors may sound too extreme, but don’t knock ‘em until you try ‘em!. Bacon makes everything better, and it’s the perfect savory, crunchy complement to sweet and creamy peanut butter!”
SuperSonic Double Cheeseburger & Peanut Butter Bacon Shake
SuperSONIC Double Cheeseburger: The burger contains two 100 percent all-beef patties with creamy peanut butter, bacon, grilled onions, and melted cheese. And it’s all piled onto a toasted, bun.
Peanut Butter Bacon Shake: Like the name implies, the Shake mixes Peanut Butter, and Bacon with vanilla soft-serve ice cream. A cherry, and a dollop of whipped cream tops it off…
The burger is a bit pricey, coming in at $6.39, and a medium Peanut Butter Bacon Shake will run you 3.99 (though prices may vary by location).
Mackenzie Gibson, vice president of culinary and menu innovation for Sonic said on the Shake:
“Peanut butter and bacon is not a combination you’d expect on a cheeseburger and you definitely wouldn’t think to combine these flavors into a shake, but at Sonic, we ignore what everyone else considers normal to deliver innovation that’ll make guests shout, ‘Hell yeah, Sonic!’. We did it once with the Pickle Juice Slush, and we’re doing it again with this latest ‘this-seems-weird-but-I-have-to-try-it’ combination that you can experience either on a cheeseburger or in a shake.”
Last Summer, USA Today named the top 10 burgers as voted by their readers, and Sonic’s SuperSONIC Double Cheeseburger was named #9. The number one voted burger was BurgerFi’s Rodeo Burger.
