The Southern fast-food chain, Bojangles, is packing its bags and movin’ on out to new horizons. The fried chicken-based chain has decided to head Northeast, and to the west coast. Californians will soon be able to experience the magic of Bojangles’ famous fried chicken, made-from-scratch biscuits, and legendary sweet tea.

This is a huge milestone for the North Carolina-based company as Bojangles has always been a born and bred Southeast staple since 1977, focusing solely on southern comfort food. This expansion plan sets their sights on a new chapter, bringing a taste of home to Southerners transplanted in the Northeast, Midwest, and the West, and introducing their flavor to a new audience.

Southern Biscuits Head West

The plan is ambitious. Bojangles is partnering with franchisee, Poulet Brothers LLC to open 30 restaurants throughout Los Angeles County alone. The multi-unit franchise agreement signifies a major step for Bojangles, and the first wave of restaurants is expected to open in early 2025. They’re also making moves in the Las Vegas area with 20 more locations.

Then, moving to the Northeast, the chain will be launching into NJ bringing a total of ten restaurants across five counties, and with two more on the way in Ohio.

Of course, as if that’s not ambitious enough, Bojangles is expanding its footprint in the south with forty-five more locations scheduled for deployment across South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Georgia.

Watch Out KFC, Popeyes

Quite the plan, eh? The chicken chain is making moves, putting competitors, KFC and Popeye’s in the hot seat.

Californians get to experience a taste of Southern hospitality on a plate, while Bojangles expands its reach and introduces its brand to a whole new market. It’ll be interesting to see how Californians react to Bojangles’ signature menu items, like their buttermilk biscuits, spicy Cajun Fixin’s, and of course, their crispy, fried chicken.

Get ready for long lines and plenty of satisfied sighs as parts of the US discover the magic of Bojangles for the first time.
