Some fast food chains have been feeling the burn of inflation but not Taco Bell and Pizza Hut, the two chains have seen an increase in foot traffic that isn’t letting up.

The data was compiled by analyst company Placer.ai, which found Pizza Hut traffic up by 6.4%, and Taco Bell by 3% over the past few months.

Both Taco Bell and Pizza Hut belong to the same parent company, Yum Brands.

And both have been pushing more promotions along to stay relevant in today’s landscape. Taco Bell continues to add, new and low-cost items to the menu, even testing new creations like the Cheesy Street Chalupas in Indianapolis.

Pizza Hut recently announced a move that would push late-night hours back at many locations to 12pm, and even 2am at some locations giving the chain another edge over other fast food restaurants that close earlier.

Yum Brands is also parent to KFC which saw the opposite happen…a decrease of 2.9% in foot traffic despite an increase in previous periods.

Placer said: “While consumers have been bitten by inflation, it’s clear there’s still an appetite for fast food and QSR [Quick Service Restaurant] chains.”

McDonalds saw similar results with increased profits gained despite inflation, and subsequent menu price increases. Customers have taken notice of the prices, and the complaints are mounting over the costs at the burger chain with many vowing to cook their meals at home to avoid the higher prices.

Pizza Hut and Taco Bell are doing something right, and it’s putting them ahead of the fast food pack.
