Taco Bell is adding a dash of zest to its menu with a limited-time collaboration with Tajín, the popular Mexican chili-lime seasoning brand. This partnership brings the unique flavors of Tajín to three new menu items, currently being tested at a single location in Irvine, California.
The new trio includes a star taco, a side, and a drink; the Tajin Crunchy Taco, Tajin Twists, and the Tajin Strawberry Freeze. Each item uses the unique seasoning blend of Tajin which according to Technomic, has been gaining steam in the US as a popular seasoning component.
Liz Matthews, Taco Bell’s chief global food innovations officer, said in a statement: “We’re thrilled to embark on this culinary journey with Tajin, a brand whose unique seasoning blends are revered for their versatility in the kitchen.This collaboration is a celebration of bold flavors and innovative pairings that showcase how Tajin’s iconic chili-lime seasoning perfectly complements classic Taco Bell menu items. Together we’re bringing new flavors to the taco experience and delivering an unforgettable taste adventure.”
3 New Tajin-Infused Creations
The first item to the table is the Tajín Crunchy Taco. It starts with a classic corn taco shell, but the shell gets a spicy and tangy upgrade with a special Tajín Clasico seasoning. Inside, it’s filled with seasoned beef, creamy ranch sauce, crisp lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese, and a refreshing mango salsa. Priced at $2.89.
For those seeking lighter side fare, the Tajín Twists are an interesting option. These crispy puffed corn twists are generously coated with a bold Tajín seasoning, delivering a satisfying crunch and a burst of flavor in every piece. They come in at $1.29.
If you’re looking for a refreshing beverage with a twist, the Tajín Strawberry Freeze may just fit the bill. This icy treat combines the classic Wild Strawberry Freeze with real mango pieces and a drizzle of Tajín Chamoy sauce, for a blend of sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors. It’s available for $3.59.
A Tajin Combo is available for $6.99 which includes all three menu items in one go.
All three items come with an individual packet of Tajín seasoning on the side, to add additional sprinkles to your hearts content.
This limited-time test at the Irvine location allows Taco Bell to gauge customer response to the Tajín offerings before potentially rolling them out to a wider audience. The menu will be available until March 6th, 2024, or while supplies last.
Taco Bell has been busy at work, testing item after item, and with more on the way for 2024 alone. Their most recent announcement being the testing of the Cantina Loaded Chicken Nachos in Bakersfield, CA ahead of a probable nationwide launch in March.
