Burger King is beginning to test new items in the Columbus, Ohio market starting on, February 13th (Courtesy of: NBC 4).
The franchise says that the demand for food “on the go” has increased in recent years, and that a new menu is being created to meet that demand.
A Burger King spokesperson: “As we know, COVID-19 has accelerated snacking (sweet and savory) throughout the day, and day-parts are blending as consumers redefine meal time to work around their schedules.”
The new offerings are part of a three part menu named, “Fries, Your Way”.
The first snackable addition are; Mozzarella Fries. They come with a side of marinara sauce and are served in a to-go box.
In fact, each item on the new menu is served in a box meant to be reminiscent of snacking on fries to match the “portable” theme.
The next item to be tested, are Churro Fries. A sweet, cinnamon and sugar dusted pastry, shaped as close to the form of a French fry as can be. These are the sweet option to the two savory.
The last addition to the snackable trifecta would be the Chicken Fries. Burger King has showcased these on and off the menu over the years and they have proven their worth in the snacking department.
Some discussion swirling around on Twitter about the new menu shows a preference for the Mozzarella Fries and Churros.
Testing will continue on the Fries, Your Way menu until mid-May, at which point – if the menu is a hit with Ohioans, it’s expected to be available nationwide by the summer.
