The fast-food nugget wars are getting saucy! Just as Wendy’s launched their new Saucy Nuggs nationwide, KFC has now fired back with their own version. Specifically, the flavor Wendy’s launched with their own saucy nugget line-up: Honey BBQ.
This isn’t just any Honey BBQ sauce, KFC is taking aim at their classic flavor profile, coating their crispy nuggets in a “sweet, smoky, and tangy sauce” made with brown sugar, honey, tomato, and their secret blend of spices.
Wendy’s Saucy Nuggets officially became available starting June 10th just as KFC announced the new flavor addition to their Saucy Nuggets.
This move comes just two months after KFC debuted their initial Saucy Nuggets lineup, featuring Korean BBQ and Honey Sriracha flavors. It seems KFC is listening to customer feedback and offering a familiar, crowd-pleasing option alongside their more adventurous choices.
The Honey BBQ Saucy Nuggets join the existing flavors for a trifecta of saucy goodness. Here’s a quick breakdown:
- Honey BBQ: A sweet and smoky twist on a classic, perfect for those who love the tried-and-true BBQ taste.
- Korean BBQ: For the adventurous eaters, this option offers a sweet and savory umami punch with hints of soy sauce, garlic, and sesame.
- Honey Sriracha: This option combines the sweetness of honey with the fiery kick of sriracha, perfect for those who like a little heat.
- Georgia Gold: A honey-mustard style BBQ sauce made with vinegar, honey and savory seasoning.
- Sticky Chicky: A balanced combination of sweet and tangy flavors including pineapple, garlic, vinegar and chili.
KFC’s Honey BBQ Saucy Nuggets are available nationwide starting June 10th at participating locations. They come in 10-piece orders for $5.99.
Wendy’s Saucy Nuggets also comes in a 10-piece but it has a price point of $6.89 (at least at my local Wendy’s. Prices are subject to be different across the country).
