The word on the street is that Krispy Kreme is partnering with a brand called Ethical Spirits to provide a more environmentally-conscious gin called Little Joy Spirits. The leftover dough and glaze used to make Krispy Kreme donuts will be used in the production of the gin made by the Japanese company.
Ethical Spirits has been getting creative with the making of it’s alcoholic beverages using all sorts of ingredients such as wood, and recycled Budweiser.
Valencia oranges, juniper berries, angelica root, coriander seed and cardamom powder are also used in conjunction with Krispy’s ingredients to make a unique blend that piggybacks off of the sweetness of the donuts.
You can obtain Little Joy Spirits online or through their location in Tokyo at Tokyo Riverside Distillery (you know, if you’re in the area). They’re available in limited quantities so if you want to know what gin tastes like made from the spin-off of a Krispy Kreme donut…that’s how you do it.
Krispy Kreme has not been shying away from partnerships with other fast food giants to embark on new horizons. Since this past October, the donut franchise has been involved with McDonald’s by offering several varieties of donuts, testing the waters at over one hundred locations in Kentucky.
They also just put the call out looking for a fan to create a new donut under the role Chief Donut Dreamer. Suffice to say Krispy Kreme is expanding it’s operation…but not nearly fast enough.
