Starting January 24th, McDonald’s is taking a classic, and making it even bigger…and better using a total of 4 beef patties. The chain is introducing the Double Big Mac to menu’s nationwide, for a limited time.
The menu addition was announced yesterday, and in a press release, the chain said:
“Did someone order a glow up? McDonald’s legendary Big Mac is getting bigger (and saucier) in 2024,“ with the addition of this burger behemoth that’s “double the fun.“
The Double Big Mac was seen first in 2020 very briefly as it was right before Covid hit. Once the full scope of Covid was gleaned, most chains stripped down to the basics menu-wise to account for supply chain issues. And the Double Big Mac was no more.
The Double Big Mac will have more sauce, meltier cheese, and a different bun. It also has pickles, shredded lettuce, onions, one slice of American Cheese, and 4 beef patties.
McDonald’s also announced that their new burger with 50+ changes are scheduled to be fully implemented by early 2024. The changes are being implemented to every burger on the menu including the standard Big Mac.
During a recent earnings call, McDonalds hinted at offering “bigger, cheaper” burgers in the future saying:
“We’ve identified an unmet customer need with a significant opportunity to drive future growth in beef and that is the large beef burger customer – a desire for larger, high quality burgers that fill you up and are delivered in a convenient and affordable way.”
Does the Double Big Mac fit the bill? Most likely this isn’t the case as the new offering is only available for a limited time.
