The fast-food giant has announced the return of its popular Spicy Chicken McNuggets for a limited time. No, they’re not the spiciest, but they are another welcome version of the classic McNugget with a little pep-infused into them.
The Spicy McNuggets made their debut in 2020 (the first time they’d offered a flavored version of the McNugget) and have been on and off the menu in 2022, and 2023. Last year, they only returned to about half of McDonald’s locations in the US, so this nationwide roll-out has been a long time coming.
The announcement came from the Snackolator‘s Instagram page: “McDonald’s is bringing Spicy McNuggets back for a limited time, and I was drawn to them like Batman to the Bat-Signal! These are rolling out to participating markets this week, and mine hooked me up by having them this weekend.”
The spicy version of the McNuggets have also done well internationally. The United Kingdom welcomed back the Spicy McNuggets this past September, after fans pushed for their return…even making petitions online to get the ball rolling.
Fueled by social media buzz and reviews, the initial launch was a success. The “tens of thousands” of tweets begging for their return, as McDonald’s itself acknowledged, were a testament to their popularity.
Spicy McNuggets Return
The breaded nuggets are made with a blend of aged cayenne and chili pepper, offering a subtle kick for customers craving something more adventurous.
According to a press release, the Spicy McNuggets will be available nationwide but to check the app to confirm before ordering as they may be pushed out in phases.
In a similar spicy vein, McDonald’s is testing another creation, the Ghost Pepper McChicken. The details are closely guarded, and its only available at one location, in one market right now at Hamburger University in Chicago. And there’s no word on if or when this will be making an appearance nationally.
The Spicy nugget parade is a chance to experience the familiar favorite with a spicy twist, a perfect option for those who like a little heat with their McNugget meal.
