Have you ever pondered if a Doritos Nacho Cheese liquor could be done? Neither did we but someone made it happen because Doritos has teamed up with the liquor brand Empirical to bring just that…Empirical x Doritos® Nacho Cheese Spirit.

The team-up between Doritos and Empirical is a legendary pairing as far as innovative ideas go. The process to make the liquor is also interesting as it uses real Nacho Cheese Doritos, and puts them through a process called, vacuum distillation, which is a more ambitious distillation method as it uses lower temperatures to preserve the Dorito flavor.

Reports are saying that the liquor tastes just like the iconic nacho cheese chip…

A press release stated that the liquor has “flavors of nacho cheese, corn tostada and umami with a hint of acidity”.

“Experience the indulgent flavors of your favorite snack in liquid form. The spirit opens with umami and tangy aromas of nacho cheese, moving to the deeper, corn-forward flavors of the chip to finish on a soft salty note,” the news release continued.

Tina Mahal, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Frito-Lay North America said about the pairing:

“Doritos is all about disrupting culture and bringing our fans unexpected, bold experiences. We’re always pushing our fans to try new things, so we figure it’s time we disrupt the spirits category by offering our iconic nacho cheese flavor in a bottle.”

The Empirical x Doritos Nacho Cheese Spirit will be available next month in select New York, and California stores. They can also be pre-ordered starting December 13th. For a 750ml bottle, the price is listed at $65.

Doritos recently came out with another innovative idea…Silent Doritos, a chip that can be enjoyed by gamers or anyone partaking in a business meeting online…and not disturb anyone. The reason behind this is a software commissioned and created by a tech company for Doritos, specifically, making it the first of it’s kind.

Krispy Kreme is another chain that also got on the booze wagon partnering with Ethical Spirits to bring a donut-flavored gin to the market.

Empirical CEO said:

“Empirical is an ‘uncategorized’ spirits company, so it allows us the freedom to experiment with really interesting flavors and not have to be stuck in a gin box or tequila box or whiskey box. And we can take something that has a unique and amazing flavor, like Doritos, and evolve it into something completely new.”
