Kim Kardashian, reality TV star turned mogul, has a ridiculous kryptonite: cardboard coffee sleeves. In a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kardashian revealed her aversion to the ubiquitous cup protectors, stating that the sound and feel of the cardboard being removed from the cup is like “nails on a chalkboard” for her.

Starbuck’s Rumor
One of the rumors Kimmel asked was “did she really need someone else remove the cardboard sleeve from her Starbuck’s coffee cup”. Her answer?
“Yes … and I hate the feeling. The cardboard getting moved off the cup is like nails on a chalkboard to me. Whoever I’m with, I just can’t see it being done or I can’t hear it and I can’t feel it.”
Imagine being so lousy with cash that you couldn’t deign to remove an offending coffee sleeve…by your own self, so you had to have someone else do it?
Well, apparently Kardashian isn’t alone in experiencing sensory sensitivities because there’s actually a condition called Misophonia. It’s characterized by a negative reaction to specific sounds that can be triggered by things like chewing, crumpling paper, or, apparently, the sound of a coffee sleeve meeting its demise.
But Kardashian’s dislike goes beyond just the sound. She can’t hear it, she can’t feel it, and she can’t even SEE the offending cardboard sleeve.

Her love for the brand has even passed down to her daughter, North West, who once posted a video on Tiktok showing off her backyard playhouses (that’s plural) complete with mini-playhouse stores with actual merchandise, and yes, you guessed it – a Starbucks playhouse where one could make beverages. Even a grown adult could wish…
