There’s a new side at McDonald’s; it’s fried, it’s sweet, and for now, it’s being released in the Australian market. The new additions are called Pineapple Fritters, and they aren’t the only new fruity item coming to the menu…McDonald’s is also bringing along a Pineapple Sundae ice cream flavor for the ride.
Last year the Australian McDonald’s market added potato scallops (called a Fritter in other parts of the country) to the menu. They were such a success that they decided to make another version, only this time…tropical and sweet.
The Pineapple Fritter contains sauce, and fruit chunks with a breaded exterior for a mild crunch effect.
Starting January 10th, The Pineapple Fritters will be available for order. They’re like a cross between onion rings, and a donut. And also brings to mind White Castle’s Chicken Rings, at least in shape. .

Both the Fritters and the Pineapple Sundae additions are now part of McDonald’s Australia “summer menu” which also includes:
- McCrispy Bacon Deluxe
- Tim Tam Chocolate McFlurry
- Aussie Angus Deluxe
In other news, the four-patty Double Big Mac was just announced in the US. It will be available for about a month starting January 24th. This will be the first time since 2020 that the Double Big Mac has gone live.
