Bojangles, the Southern-fried chicken chain, is taking its menu to new heights with the introduction of Bo’s Bird Dog. This twist on the classic hot dog offers a convenient option for chicken lovers on the go.

And that’s actually (and perhaps fortunately) not a fried hotdog in the bun, it’s much better than that.

The nifty-looking Bo’s Bird Dog features a crispy Bojangles Chicken Supreme tender nestled in a toasted split-top potato bun. Then a hand-battered Chicken Supreme strip is cast as the star of the show, but the supporting cast is just as slick. Thick-cut pickles add a crunch and a tangy contrast, while Carolina Gold sauce – a sweet and tangy honey mustard-based BBQ sauce.

One order comes with two Bird Dogs for a double dose of goodness.

The Bird Dog will be available for a limited-time but they didn’t say how long we can expect them to stick around.

Bojangles has more in store than just the Bird Dog, they’re also bringing back the creamy, tangy Bo’s Sauce after a two-year hiatus.

According to Tom Boland, Chief Marketing Officer: “Back by popular demand, Bo Sauce is now available in restaurants to pair with all your favorite menu items. Bo Sauce has been a fan favorite for years, and we are delighted to bring our signature sauce with a creamy, bold bite.”

But wait, there’s actually more. A sweet treat is also arriving, Bo-Berry sugar cookies. The cookies come packed with Bo Berries and are available in 2 or 6-packs. If you’re feeling particularly fiesty, there’s a 12-count available.

Bojangles might be taking over one Bird Dog at a time as per a recent announcement the brand is expanding into several more states in the coming months including into: NJ, California, Ohio, and Illinois. The chicken chain hopes to give competitors, Popeye’s and KFC a run for their money by introducing their southern charm in new, undiscovered arenas. This is a whole new chapter for the chain and their expansion will be interesting to watch. Do they have what it takes?
